I went to the dispensary on this morning bit I found nobody there... (one of the inconvenient of the african culture, I must say that it is still difficult for me to accomodate myself with that😅). Consequently, I decided to go to school and I made a math class with PP2.
On the afternoon, I went to Kakiimba primary and I proposed to the class 5 to learn a small choreo for their final day. They were so enthusiastic and me I felt so happy seeing their reaction! 😁
Same thing than the last day at the hospital, I saw neither Calisto, nor Wyclife. I staid for 1 hour and then I came back.
On the afternoon, I made a math class with the older. I think I 've took the kenyan scustoms , it means, IMPROVISATION. I conceived my wordings directly on the board and finally, it was a good class😎💪
Regarding to the last mornings, I decided this day to come to the school on the morning . I spent a very good time firstly with the youngers reading for them a story book and secondly with the olders doing a circuit training 💪😎😁.
I have just finished when Calisto called me. So I went to the hospital, he asked me again to come back on the afternoon so we can go to a school for talk about HIV. At least, when I came back on the afternoon, many patients were still there so we didn't have time to go. Unstead of it, I assisted and realized with Calisto an insertion of a contraceptive implant ! 👩⚕️ it was an unforgettable experience but I must admit that I did never expect that...😯
Then, I went to Kakiimba primary to revise our choreo with pupils😜 they were so much excited !!😲
I finished this exausting day by a shower in the lake 🏞😍
😴😴
This morning, a vaccination was organized at St James.Com.Scool for children below 5 years. After that, I went to the dispensary where it was also an imunization day so babies was so many and Wyclife was not around so the work was SO BUSY🤯 From my point of view, I must say that the african organisation is very diferent than ours...😅 At 1.30 pm we made another introduced another implant for a mother.
On the afternoon, I went again to Kakiimba school, I was so proud seeing my pupils dancing😍😍😍
On the evening, (the day wasn't already finished) I went with Mr.Calmax for see the monkeys upper. Unfortunately, we didn't see any...😥 but I will retry another morning before to go!
The most busy end exhausting day I had on the island! Because it was the last day at the hospital and at the schools, I had to be EVERYWHERE! I began by the dispensary, we scheduled with Calisto an intervention in a school for discuss about HIV, contraception and drug abuse. I had to prepare my subject ahead, then I spoke in front of 3 class about the dangers of HIV and how to protect ourselves. It was at the beginning impressive but the pupils were very attentive and interested so this intervention was a very good moment, and I think essential in this area...
Then, we came back to the hotel, and... out of my expectations, they made for me a very big meeting with all the team (including people I never met and Mr.George) , they cooked for me my favourite Kenyans food (chapatis, beans and green grams)... Since the beginning of my volunteering, I never received any feedbacks or thanks. I didn’t expect any kind of it because for me , volunteering means help without awaiting returns; however, looking of this meeting especially organised for me and listening so many deeply words from this team, my family, I felt so emotional, touched and complete...The last day... I woke up early because I really wanted to see the monkeys before to leave but I had to wash my clothes before... I went with Mr. Calmax again at the same place than Thursday and this time, at around 10 AM I saw wild monkeys !!! They were jumping from place to place to eat maize . We met some people living there , they told us that the monkeys use to come next to there house (sometimes inside) in search of food 🐒 .
Then, I went to my friend’s house (Faith) for lunch where I found her mother Joyce. I really appreciated this time , Faith cooked a tasty chicken and Joyce was so nice awards me. At the end, they prayed for me to thanks me and wish me a safe journey 🙏 .I came back on the afternoon and began my suitcase 🧳. Mr. Calmax absolutely wanted me to take a photo with his family so I ran again ! To concluded our meeting, he offered me a present I will never NEVER forget, it reflected our relationship and the generous man he is. Compared to the majority of the Kenyans I met, he never asked me any money or compensation for his efforts, for this reason, I decided to leave him my phone 💝.
