Lundi 11 juillet nous
quittons Nong Khiaw en bateau pour rejoindre Muang Ngoi Nuea. Nous sommes une
trentaine, limite assis les uns sur les autres. Heureusement
le trajet ne dure qu’une heure !

On Monday 11th July, we took the boat to
leave Nong Khiaw and go to Muang Noi Nuea. We are around 30 persons inside the
boat, like sardines in a can. Fortunately,
the journey was only 1 hour.
Muang Ngoi Nuea est un
village très calme, surtout en saison basse, car seulement accessible par
bateau (pour l’instant). Nous trouvons une chambre dans un hôtel en bord de
rivière dans un hôtel dont le gérant parle Français. Il a appris le Français à
l’école lorsqu’il était enfant et parle encore très bien (à 60 ans environ) !
A tel point qu’il nous raconte les détails de la finale France-Portugal tout en
nous charriant à propos de notre défaite ! L’heure du déjeuner
approche : nous mangeons une crêpe de légumes feuilles dans une gargote de
rue.

Muang Ngoi Nuea is a very quiet village,
especially in low touristic season, it is only possible to go there by boat. We
found a room in front of the river, in a guesthouse whom the owner can speak
French. He has learnt when he was young, and can still speak fair enough (he is
around 60 years old)! He made a joke regarding the defeat of France in the
soccer European championship L Then it is time for lunch, and we eat a kind of crepe of vegetables
in a street food shop.
Comme mentionné à l’étape
d’avant, les Américains bombardèrent le Laos pendant la guerre du
Vietnam ; il est possible de voir quels vestiges à Muang Ngoi Nuea.

As we mentioned in the last post, Americans sent
bombs on Lao during the Vietnam war and it is possible to see old bombs at
Muang Ngoi Nuea.
Le Laos est apprécié des
Français. Nous nous mettons d’accord avec d’autres Français pour partir faire
une petite rando jusqu’aux villages aux alentours. En chemin nous croisons un
troupeau de buffles dont 2 étaient albinos. Trop
drôle !

Lao seems to be a destination liked by French
people and we met lot of them. We start a walk to the villages in the mountains
with 3 French persons. Along the path, we met a buffalo's' herd: 2 of them were
albino! Quite funny!
C’est la saison des
pluies mais le soleil est au rendez-vous ! On aurait aimé qu’il pleuve
d’ailleurs, tellement il faisait chaud ! Plus nous marchons, plus nous
découvrons de magnifiques paysages ! Après avoir laissé le premier groupe de
français avec qui nous étions, nous rencontrons un couple (de français
toujours) en chemin avec qui nous arrivons jusqu’au village de Huay Sen.

It is the raining season, but it was really
sunny. We would rather prefer that it rained as it was so hot. The more we
walked, the more we saw amazing landscapes ! After we left the 1st
group of French which followed us, we met a (French again) couple, with which
we arrived to Huay Sen village.
Ici pas
de frigo ! Un gentil monsieur à l’anglais incompréhensible tient un
petit café. Nous commandons 2 cocas… chaud bien évidemment ! Le village est petit et les maisons sont en
bois et en bambou, sur pilotis. On compte plus d’animaux que d’humains tant il
y a de volailles et de chiens. Nous faisons le tour du village rapidement, une
femme tisse et un groupe d’hommes discutent à l’ombre d’une maison. Le retour
nous prendra autant qu’à l’aller : environ 2h.

Here there is no fridge ! An old
man who can speak a barely understandable English has a small restaurant. We
asked for 2 coke…which were hot of course ! The village is small and the houses
are made with wood and bamboo on stilts. There were probably more animals
(chickens, ducks, dogs,…) than humans. We had a quick tour of the village
enough to see a woman weaving and a men’s group talking in the shadow. It took
us around 2 hours to go back to Muang Ngoi Neua.
De retour à Muang Ngoi
Nuea, le ciel se tient en rose, nous profitons du coucher du soleil. Après un
rapide repas, nous allons nous coucher assez tôt. Depuis le début du voyage,
nous ne faisons pas de vieux os, car après une journée passée au grand air,
soit dans les transports soit en randonnée, nous sommes toujours bien fatigués.

At Muang Ngoi Nuea, the sky started to become
pink and we enjoyed the sunset. After a quick meal, we went to bed early. It is
the case since the beginning of the trip, because as we are always walking or
in buses and other vehicles, we are quite tired.
