Arrivee a Auckland, premiere etape obligatoire a mon periple.
To me,this city appears very calm and green. Eventhough it's the biggest city of the country, gathering 30% of the NZ population, it feels a very nice place to live in. The urban buildings of the dynamic city (most of the work opportunities) is balanced by the clean parks and impressive trees, as seen in Albert Park or Auckland Domain. The whole city was build on a volcanic area, it's then very common to go up and down the hills. You will have to go up Mt Eden to enjoy the view.
Those first days were useful for organizing my journey, getting my hands on the camera and simply enjoying quietly the sunny days. Morning runs in the park, afternoon in the Auckland Art Gallery, and an IPA bier in a nice retro 50's bar (with awesome music).
Kiwis are really nice. Their kindness is legendary and I can confirm indeed how easy is to meet people here even when solo travelling. Talking to people here is natural, they even acknowledge by saying "Hi mate, how are you doing today? Kia Ora, do you have a good day?)
In the air is floating an exquisite fragrance of exotic flowers and Chinese food.
Germans are everywhere.
