Down to Te Waha tracks and Laid Thomson track brings me back to Piha, then to Karekare. Rocky coastlines, black sand beaches, deep coastal forest and stunning waterfalls. Having a swim in the stream of the waterfall and get bitten by a curious eel.
The Cave Rock Track bring me up over the waterfalls, on the edge of the cliff. But the poorly indicated track signs drive me to lose my way. I had to cut through the forest to finally find the other trail path of Zion Hill Track after 1 hour of a wild Indiana Jones journey. I had the opportunity to witness on my unexpected adventure the Kauri dieback, disease affecting the Kauri trees which are dying all over many region in New-Zeland. I went to the disinfection station to clean up my boots and avoid to spread the disease.
