Popular attraction of photos lovers who try to get a perfect reflection of Mt Cook on the mirror lake. Unfortunately, the water was disturbed by the wind this day.

We continued a bit further on the gillepsie beach and iver track, famous area for its "punamu" (nephrite jade greenstone). But a keen eye is needed to tell high valuable gems from common rocks.

Track to Franz Josef Glacier

A short walk to the Franz Josef Glacier, which goes inbetween the mountains. The next day was raining, but we stepped out anyway to the Tartare tunnels, barefoot in an ice cold water, stepping slowly into the darkness of the tunnel. But in its rocky deepness, we looked at glow-worms colony on the tunnels ceiling which gave to this dark place a fairy tale dimension.
