The Fiordland

Confronting real wildness, accepting defeat. This was the most challenging day so far. I didn't expected anything like this and the reality was brutal... I ended up washed out, trapped in the rainforest like this old jalopy.

Old town built in the 20s' along the coast, far from everything, to ship wood from this remote region via an over 100kms tramway system involving many viaducts.

I met Valere (Fr) for the shared first section of the Hump Ridge track before splitting up on our ways

Do you see the sign? Well, that's the start of the Teal Bay trail to Hauroko lake... Forget the nice walking track and maintained paths. You cut through the bush, crawl in the mod and climb your way to the top under the rain. Have fun

Sometimes luck makes things straight. I met Valere on my way back at the same place we last split up, then he nicely gave me a lift to my next destination.
