For Manon, it's a new adventure in Germany that begins ! First of all, she soon learn the words "traffic jam", as German people are always so many around big cities, and she experienced the highways without speed limit. Quite stressing ! But after 8h drive through Germany, she finally arrived in Neuschönau, in Bavaria!
This is where she will live the next 3 months, in a pretty wooden house with a lot of roomates that are all very kind.
Fortunatelly, they speak English, because when you speak only a few words of german, it's pretty hard at the beginning ! But now, after 3 weeks, Manon manages to understand their gibberish and even to speak a bit as well :)
In the Bavarian National Park, there is a lot of work to do : cameras to build up and down, SD cards to change, but also looking long hours for red deer scats in the forest or helping with the different projects (insects, tree browsing pressure, red deer and beaver monitoring,...). There is a lot to do and no time to get bored !
Fortunatelly, Manon can also enjoy her week-ends, that she spends visiting the Park. She took some pictures of the animals in the Lusen enclosure, of sunset over the mountains and of nice lakes.
The second week was reserved for the SPACE: The International Exhibition of Animal Productions. It takes place every year near Rennes and allows students to meet livestock professionals :) Marine worked with 8 other students on the stand of an animal nutrition company. It was tiring but very interesting :) And she was happy to see lots of nice animals !
At the end of the week, the big sister of Marine came to Rennes. They had a great weekend! It was Heritage Days in France (it is possible to visit places, generally not open to the public, and museums for free). They visited the Opera of Rennes (they even saw a concert of the harmony orchestra), the City Hall and the Parliament of Brittany. It was amazing !!! The architecture was beautiful and the history was really interesting :)
It's a very important year for Marine: After her 6 months of courses, she will do 6 months of internship and will write a Master thesis. Finding an internship is always a stressful time but after the sending of resume, cover letter, meeting and interview with an animal nutrition company, she got her internship !! :D The company is 20 minutes from Rennes and she will study the nutrition of poultry from February to August 2019. She looks forward to beginning !!
Despite classes and projects, Marine finds time to enjoy her friends and Florent. They walk around, eat good things, play board games and that makes her happy :)
