We landed around 10 am in Cartagena. It is so warm and humid. I just stepped out the airport that I was already sweating so much. When you arrive in the airport, make sure to follow what the police officer advises you to do, and not listening to the other people around him trying to get you into their cabs. Remember that you are in Colombia, and it is not the safest place to be for Gringos like me.
The airport is located in the eastern side of the city, in the sketchy area. We decided to stay in El viajero hostel in the historic center of Cartagena, inside the old city. Why El viajero ? Cause we had a really good time in Cali and Salento, so why not go there again. DON'T ! The stuff is rude, they never give the right information, the showers do not work, no breakfast included (unlike the others el viajero), the location is not that great, the facilities, etc. You got it, lot of things to complain about. But we stayed there for few days, too complicated to switch places.
After dropping our bags to the hostel, we went for a walk with Michael and Ryan. The girls were suppose to join us in the evening, but their flight got delayed and they will finally arrive really late at night.
The city itself is not that nice during the day, and lot of street vendors will come to you, trying to sell every kind of stuff, even drugs. Be careful. We got pretty annoyed. Later in the afternoon, we walked by the harbor, trying to find a way to get to Playa Blanca the next day.
For you to know you have two options:
We didn't take any decision today, because we didn't know what the girls wanted to do. We told the vendor we would come back tomorrow, and headed back to the hostel.
