Les condors du Canyon de Colca / The condors of Colca Canyon

Après de longues hésitations, nous décidons de faire le voyage dans le Canyon de Colca depuis Arequipa par nous-mêmes plutôt qu’avec une agence... pas le meilleur choix, on se rend vite compte qu’il est difficile de se déplacer dans le Canyon par ses propres moyens.

Nous arrivons dans le très calme village de Yanque. C’est très reposant !

La première journée, nous mangeons dans un petit restaurant avec les locaux, bonne ambiance ! Nous allons ensuite aux bains thermaux, on est presque seuls, c’est chouette. Nous rentrons à pied au village avec la dame des thermes qui nous raconte un peu sa vie dans le village.

Dans notre hôtel se trouve un observatoire astronomique. Le soir, nous avons le droit à une présentation privée et observons au télescope la lune, Jupiter et d’autres étoiles... Superbe !

Le lendemain matin, départ 6h30 pour La Croix des Condors. Nous voyons des dizaines de condors prendre leur envol dans les courants ascendants matinaux, c’est somptueux !

En fin de journée, nous reprenons la route vers Arequipa.

After hesitating, we finally decide to go to the Colca Canyon by ourselves instead of going with a travel agency... not the best option, we quickly realize that local transportation is pretty rare in the Canyon.

We get to the very quiet village of Yanque. So relaxing!

The first day, we eat with the locals in a restaurant, nice atmosphere! We then go to the hot springs, we are almost alone, great! We walk back to the village with the employee of the hot springs who tells us about her life in the village.

In our hotel, there is a planetarium. In the evening, we have a private presentation and get to observe with a telescope the moon, Jupiter and a couple of other stars... Amazing!

The next day, we head to the Condors Cross at 6.30am. We see dozens of condors gliding in the ascending currents, it is absolutely terrific!

Later in the day, we head back to Arequipa.
