Depuis le centre ville, ou nous déjeunons à la cantine Consenria, nous reprenons le bus devant le UNIMARC pour Villa Cerro Castillo. Les arbres se font plus rare et nous traversons un paysage de Causses où les troupeaux de vaches et de moutons se côtoient. En été, les bords du lago General Carrera sont une destination très prisée des Chiliens et des touristes étrangers. Aussi nous ne sommes pas surpris de croiser un nombres impressionnant de stoppeurs sur la route et à l'entrée du village ou nous nous arrêtons. A la descente du bus, c'est la fraîcheur qui surprend. 13° alors qu'il fait 34 à la capitale. Mais le ciel est dégagé et le Cerro Castillo rayonne de toute sa splendeur comme un géant bienveillant qui veillerait sur un village de liliputiens. Nous tentons notre chance à l'Hospedaje Gemita. Une maison d'hôte tenue par Irena et Pedro. Dans la pièce principale, une cuisinière à bois, sur laquelle réchauffent quelques casserolles, sert de chauffage et de chauffe eau. On se sent tout de suite bien dans cette maison que ressemble à un chalet et nous sympathisons de suite avec ce couple d'une simplicité et d'un naturel qui mettent tout de suite à l'aise. Le lit aux épaisses couvertures nous tend les bras. La nuit sera bonne.
19/02/20 Cohaique to Cerro Castillo
From the city centre, where we have lunch at the Consenria canteen, we take the bus back to uniMARC to Villa Cerro Castillo. Avant d'attaquer le treck, nous nous faisons confirmer les horaires du bus qui doit nous mener à las Horquetas, l'entrée du sentier. Les infos du parcours, état des pistes, météo, campements et enfin l'indispensable passage au ravitaillement en pates, soupes et autres plats délicieux qui vont réchauffer nos fraiches soirées. Dans l'après midi nous visitons les falaises sur lesquelles des dizaines de grimpeurs escaladent. Le village accueille, ce week rend, le rock festival. Concentration de montes en l'air de tous poils. Les rochers sont poudrière de petits bonhommes accrochés à de frêles cordages.
