Avant de prendre le ferry, nous faisons un crochet par le musée Nao Victoria. Une nouvelle fois en hommage aux explorateurs. On y trouve la reconstitution, á l'échelle, de trois bateaux mythiques. Le Nao Victoria, de Magellan, fut le seul d'une flotte de 5 à rentrer à bon port lors du premier tour du monde. Le Beagle et ses trois expéditions dont celle de FitzRoy et Darwin. Enfin, La goélette Ancud, qui marqua la prise de possession du détroit de Magellan par les Chiliens en même temps que la création de Punta Arenas. Des bateaux en bois qui montrent combien la vie en mer pouvait être rude parfois même effroyable.

A 17h, nous montons à bord du ferry sous un crachin à faire pâlir la météo brestoise. En plus d'une dizaine de véhicules, le Yaghan embarque 75 passagers, en majorité, des touristes français. Il va nous falloir une trentaine d'heures pour suivre le détroit de Magellan, contourner la ilsa Aracena, oblique au sud à la Isla Aguirre et rattrapper le canal de Beagle. Une vrai expédition, heureusement plus confortable qu'aux siècles précédents. Les temps sera rythmé par les heures des repas et nos nuits devront s'accommoder un fauteuil semi cama.
