Trajet bus épuisant, mais quel paysage au petit matin.
Après une nuit de bus chaotique, entre autre un changement à 2h du mat, nous assistons à un lever de soleil sur un paysage somptueux. De ce côté est de la cordillère, la pampa s'étend à perte de vue. La carretera 40 Argentine a remplacé la carretera australe Chilienne. Elle nous mènera jusqu'en terre de feu. Pour le moment nous obliquons vers l'est. Vers le champ de glace sud. Nous allons retrouver les sommets et les glaciers aux nom mythiques, à commencer par le Fitzroy. Et justement à mesure que nous arrivons vers El chalten, la masse imposante de ces arêtes se détache sur un ciel de feu. La météo s'annonce bonne et nous avons hâte de repartir marcher. Nous arrivons dans la capitale nationale du treck. Titre un peu pompeux mais il est vrai que dans les rue on croise une population cosmopolite de randonneurs, brodequins aux pieds et sac sur le dos. Nous ne sommes pas des inconditionnels des stations de sport d'hiver, mais la c'est tout comme. Ça présente au moins l'avantage de trouver facilement une nouvelle paire de chaussures pour Nath.
